Manchester United striker 26-year-old is always looking for a quiet moment to pray before every game. "I pray to God, of course. I believe in God," he said in an interview on talkSPORT radio. "I pray for my health and all the people in the field. This is something I always do. I pray at night. I pray for my family and friends and for the health of all the people I love."
Where normally Rooney prays before competing? "I prayed in the physiotherapy room. I went there after heating. I spent a few minutes there, alone," he said.
Instead of praying for goals scored as much, he even prayed for something else. "I do not pray to help me score. I pray for my health and all the people in the field. This is something I always do. I pray at night."
Until now, it's just football players admitted wearing rosary around his neck in training. "It's my religion," he said.
Rooney's wife, Coleen, came from a devout Catholic family. Both mentioned very religious.
Currently, Rooney is promoting his latest release of his autobiography, My Decade In The Premier League. He admitted in his autobiography that the initial decision to leave Old Trafford in September 2010 was the biggest mistake.
